Sleepovers are officially on the map, with the 9th of May being declared National Sleepover Day. But there’s no reason to wait to get your party started. Roll out those trundle bed mattresses and make a few calls, it’s time to get your squad together and celebrate spontaneous sleepovers.
Turn up the volume by planning fun games, pampering and indulgence. To start, we recommend matching pj’s, and more pillows than you think you need. This is about to become a night to remember!
We have put together the hottest list of 16 activities to kick off the party festivities.
1. Sexy Selfies and an Insta Booth
Matching pajamas will set the scene for a buffet of #sexysleepy Instagram shots. Prepare a prop box beforehand, so your pajama crew can take cute selfies throughout the night and capture memories to go down in friendship history.
2. Makeover Party
The Shany All-in-One Harmony Make-Up Kit available on Amazon, has a massive range of eye-shadows, lip gloss and brushes for hours of makeover fun.
This is the night to try out a new look and YouTube will supply you with detailed tutorials to recreate absolutely any look. Try out “sexy-sweet”, “smoky” or “scary”, you may just uncover your “Top Model” identity.
Sleepovers are the perfect time for face masks, massages, makeup and manicures. Get the girls to bring their favorite nail varnish, makeup and creams to add to the collection.
3. Truth or Dare Secrets
No slumber party is complete without a few embarrassing rounds of truth or dare. It’s the best way to get to know your old and new friends even better. And hey, maybe you just need to know if your BFF is crushing on your special guy. Here is a list of a few great questions to get you started.
4. Pancake Bar with Ice Cream & Chocolate
Yes, this dessert deserves a dedicated section all to itself. If you have ever had a pancake or ice-cream bar at a party, you’ll know what I’m talking about. You could just grab the ice-cream tub from the freezer and add spoons, but trust me, make a little effort and prepare a decadent treat to remember. The more toppings you add to the spread, the better #pancakebar #chocoholic #icecream #cottoncandy
5. Pillow Fights
A cliché, I know, but sometimes it’s the simple pleasures that make for the best laughs and photo ops. Pillow fights need no planning at a slumber party, as your weapons are everywhere. Make sure your first “thwack” catches your opponent off guard and then get ready for her to even the score. #pillowfight
6. Try Not to Laugh Challenge
There is a massive collection of videos available online and that’s all you’ll need to get this activity started. As the name of the game implies, try not to laugh… which you inevitably will.
7. Chubby Bunny
In case you’ve just been introduced to this crazy, fun form of overindulgence, let me explain further. Chubby bunny involves putting as many marshmallows as possible in your mouth, while trying to clearly pronounce the phrase “chubby bunny”. The winner is hard to determine, but is sure is fun, and delicious to play.
8. Call a Crush & Boy Talk
Your crush occupies a large portion of your thoughts, so it’s only fitting that he features tonight. Your girlfriends know you best and should also be able to add some valuable insight into whether or not he’s the one for you. This can easily be one of the “dares” you give one of your girlfriends.
9. Would You Rather
Another fun way to get that secretive friend to spill the beans. You need at least 3 players and a list of questions, preferably prepared beforehand. There are some questions that are insanely funny and near impossible to answer, check out this link…
One player starts the game by asking a “Would you rather…” and then giving one of the other players a choice of two scenarios. The options can be ridiculous or downright scandalous, but best to keep it light to keep the evening fun.
10. Three Truths and One Lie
This is a great game to play, especially if there’s someone new in the group.
It’s really simple to play. Each person gets a chance to make three statements. The goal is for the group to figure out which statement is false. The group guesses which statement they feel is untrue, and at the end of each round, the person reveals which one of their statements was made up.
You’ll just have to get creative with your statements. Here’s an example:
- “I Kissed Josh at a party once”
- “Clowns REALLY scare me”
- “I read someones Diary once without them knowing”
Which one’s a LIE???
11. Have You Ever Game
Everyone sits in a circle and holds up ten fingers. Each person gets to turn to ask a “Have you ever…” question. Anyone who has done the “Have you ever . . .”, question asked, puts one finger down. The winner of the game is the last girl with a finger raised. Grab some questions here.
12. Movie Marathon
Chick flicks, romantic comedies or classic horrors? It’s hard to beat a good cry, laugh or scare. If you can’t decide on anything, pick your favorite Twilight movie and eat a marshmallow every time Bella “scoffs”.
To turn up the movie fun, make a list of items you have to spot in the movie. The first person to find all the items is the winner. Oh, and don’t forget the popcorn!
Here are some great ideas for movie night.
13. Learn Tutting Finger Dancing
Tutting has its origin in hip hop and street dancing. Although it looks near impossible to master the intricately choreographed hand movements, it’s actually quite easy to put together an impressive set.
With a few minutes of practice, you can learn some basic moves and match them up to a beat. Just like that, you’ve added a sexy party trick to your repertoire.
14. The Fortune Teller Game
This game is a great ice-breaker and needs at least 6 players to be really fun.
Each player will need a pen and 3 pieces of paper.
Write down the following:
- A boy’s name
- A place to live
- A profession
Fold the pieces of paper place the “Boy’s Names” into one bowl, the “Places” into a second bowl and the “Profession” into a third.
Each girl then takes a turn to pick one note from each bowl and read her fortune.
The weirder the combination selected, the funnier it gets.
15. Balloon Pop
Just like pillow fights, this game is a classic and always ends up in hysterical laughter. Buy a bag of cheap and quality balloons to add to the suspense of how quickly that balloon will give.
To keep it challenging. No two balloons can be popped the same way, so you’ll have to get creative.
16. Impersonations
This is the next level “charades” and it’s perfect to help turn something serious into something light and funny. Both in real life and on the movie screen we have people we love, and those we loathe.
Impressions are a fun way to blow off some steam and make light of those crazies that get your blood boiling. Whether it’s a celebrity or someone from class, let the others guess who you are acting out.
